Study abroad from India

Study abroad from India: intakes, tests, documents and the funds figures each government publishes, every number linked to its official page with the date we read it.

Quick answer

This section collects the official facts an Indian student needs to study abroad, eight countries so far: the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand and France. Each country page gives the intakes, sample university deadlines, the English tests accepted, the visa document list and the funds figure the government publishes. Two tools sit across them: the intake calendar plans each month back from an official deadline, and funds by country puts every government's figure in one table with a rupee converter. Every number links to its official page and shows the date we read it.

Who this section is for

Students in India, and the parents helping them, who are planning a bachelor's or master's abroad and want the rules from the source rather than from someone selling a service. We do not take enquiries, sell services or pass your details to anyone, and nothing here predicts an admission or visa outcome.

Use it in order: read the country page for the place you are considering, build your month-by-month plan in the intake calendar, then check the money figure in funds by country. Before you pay a fee or file a visa, open the official page we link and confirm the figure there.

The journey in five steps

  1. Choose. Pick the country and course. Each country page lists its intakes and the recognition step, such as APS for Germany.
  2. Test. Book the English test the university and the visa accept. Some visas set their own minimum: Australia and Ireland do, and Germany refuses some tests for visas filed in India.
  3. Apply. Apply before the official deadlines. The intake calendar works backwards from them.
  4. Documents. Collect the papers on the government's own list: an offer letter, a CAS, CoE or I-20, passport, photos and marksheets. For photo and PDF sizes, use CorrectForm's passport-size photo tool (opens in a new tab).
  5. Funds and visa paperwork. Show the amount the government publishes, held the way it asks. Funds by country has every figure with its source and date.

Tips and tricks

  • Write every deadline from every university into one list and plan against the earliest, not the latest.
  • Check the date printed on each government page. Canada, France and Australia changed their rules in August, September and October 2026.
  • Take English tests early enough to sit them again, but not so early that the result expires before the visa.
  • Keep originals and clean scans of every marksheet in one folder; most portals ask for PDFs.

What this section covers

  • Official figures only, each linked to the government or university page it came from, with the date we read it.
  • Eight countries now; English-test guides, document checklists and more countries come next.
  • What we leave out: visa odds, routes to stay on after study, money products and agent referrals.

Questions people ask

How much money do I need to show for a student visa?

Each country publishes its own figure. As re-checked on 30 and 31 October 2026: UK £1,529 a month in London, Canada CAD 23,448 a year, Australia AUD 29,710 a year, Germany €11,904 a year, Ireland €10,000 a year, New Zealand NZD 20,000 a year and France €877.50 a month. The US sets no fixed amount.[1]

Which exchange rate do you use for rupees?

The reference rates RBI showed at 1:00 pm on 8 October 2026, sourced from FBIL. RBI publishes none for the Canadian, Australian or New Zealand dollar.[9]

Does the US government publish a proof-of-funds figure?

No. The student or a sponsor must show enough money for tuition and living expenses, and the school checks it before issuing the Form I-20.[8]
