CLAT NLU predictor from the 2026 cut-off tables
I have (or expect) a CLAT All India Rank. Which National Law University programmes did ranks like mine reach in the last counselling, and how close was it?
Type your CLAT All India Rank and this tool sets it against the closing rank the Consortium of NLUs printed for every seat class in its five CLAT 2026 allotment lists: 37 undergraduate programmes at 26 campuses. Each programme comes back as safe, possible or reach, and the rule behind each band is printed under the result. These are last year's figures. Cut-offs move every year with the seats, the number of candidates and the choices they make, and we hold only one year of lists, so the bands are deliberately wide. Your rank stays in your browser.
This page may be out of date. It was due for a re-check on 31 January 2027. Confirm every rule with the official source before acting on it.
Figures are the CLAT 2026 closing ranks, lists 1 to 5, read from the Consortium's PDFs on 8 October 2026 and re-checked on 9 October 2026 (no sixth list). When the Consortium publishes its CLAT 2027 lists, we add them here.

Seats are the General seats printed in the fifth list. Where the list heading names no programme, the row shows the NLU only. Closing ranks for every reserved and state class are in the predictor above.[5]
The Consortium publishes allotment lists one after another. When a candidate higher up takes a seat somewhere else, or drops out, the seat passes to the next rank, so closing ranks usually get looser with each list. For General seats at NLSIU Bengaluru the closing AIR went from 101 in the first list to 120 in the fifth. At IIULER Goa's B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) it went from 2,236 to 2,802.
That is why the predictor shows all five lists for every class. A rank that missed in the first list can still land in the fifth, and the reach band counts any rank that came inside the loosest 2026 list.[1]
Each NLU's list ends with a Cut-Off Rank Table: one line per seat class, with the seats, the closing All India Rank and the closing category rank. All-India classes (General, EWS, OBC, SC, ST, and the women and PwD classes where an NLU has them) are open to any candidate in that category. State classes, such as General Category of Karnataka at NLSIU or the Maharashtra classes at the three MNLUs, need that state's domicile or category certificate.
Two marks appear in the tables. ** means the horizontal reservation was treated as met, so the Consortium printed no separate cut-off: those seats were filled inside the other classes. # marks a vertical seat given because of a horizontal condition. The predictor shows both marks as printed and leaves those classes out of the bands.[5]
It uses the All India Rank only. The tables also print a category rank cut-off, but most candidates don't know their rank inside a state sub-category, so we compare AIR with AIR. It covers the five-year undergraduate programmes, not LL.M., and not NLU Delhi, which admits through its own test, AILET.
It does not cover fees, the counselling fee or the 2027 seat matrix. The Consortium publishes those with the CLAT 2027 counselling notice, after the result.[5]
Tips and tricks
- Fill your NLU preferences in the order you would actually join. The bands show how close 2026 was and say nothing about which university suits you.[5]
- Keep a few safe programmes in your list along with the reach ones. Closing ranks in 2026 got looser in every list for General seats, but by different amounts.[1]
- Check the state classes for your domicile state, then get the certificate ready before counselling opens. A state seat goes only to someone who can prove that class.[5]
- A ** in a row means the Consortium printed no separate cut-off because the seats were filled inside other classes. It does not mean a seat went empty.[5]
- Come back after the CLAT 2027 result. When the Consortium posts its 2027 lists, we will add them as this year's figures next to 2026.[5]
Questions people ask
Which NLU can I get with my CLAT rank?
Nobody can say for certain before the 2027 lists come out. What the predictor tells you is where a rank like yours stood in 2026: for each of the 37 programmes, whether it was inside the closing rank of the fifth list (safe or possible), just outside it (reach), or beyond that.[5]
Where do these cut-offs come from?
From the Cut-Off Rank Table at the end of each NLU's PDF in the Consortium of NLUs' provisional allotment lists for CLAT 2026 (lists 1 to 5). We copy the printed figures and compute nothing extra, apart from the bands.[5]
Why is the band so wide?
We have one year of lists. The 2023 to 2025 archives were not reachable when we built this, so a single year has to stand in for the trend. Safe goes to 75% of the 2026 closing rank and reach to 125% of it.[5]
Does the predictor include domicile seats?
Yes. Pick your state and the tool lists every class any NLU printed for that state, with its seats and closing rank. Count only the classes whose certificate you hold.[5]
Is NLU Delhi in this predictor?
No. NLU Delhi is not one of the NLUs in the Consortium's CLAT 2026 lists. It admits through its own test, AILET; the AILET NLU Delhi predictor covers it.[5]
When is CLAT 2027?
On Sunday 6 December 2026. Applications close on 31 October 2026.[6]
