A duplicate ordered with the old mistake on it
What happens: It copies the board's record, so the wrong spelling or date of birth comes back.[3]
Fix: Order the correction through the school first, then the duplicate.
My CBSE Class 10 or 12 marksheet or migration certificate is lost, or a college wants one. Where do I get a copy, digital or printed, and what does it cost?
DADS (Duplicate Academic Document System, dads.cbseit.in) is CBSE's portal for a duplicate Class 10 or 12 marksheet, pass certificate or migration certificate. The home page offers two routes. Digital Document takes you to CBSE's DigiLocker repository, where the copy is free; CBSE says the repository holds results from 2004. Printed Document is the paid route, and the fee depends on how many years ago you passed. Check DigiLocker first. From the 2025 exams CBSE no longer prints migration certificates for Class 10 or 12. Colleges get the DigiLocker copy, and UGC has told them to accept it.
This page may be out of date. It was due for a re-check on 29 April 2027. Confirm every rule with the official source before acting on it.
The fee notice CBSE still links on its duplicate documents page is dated 19 August 2016. The DADS page's own 'Fee Circular' link opens a CTET notice, not a board fee notice. Re-check both before each update.
Do you need a CBSE document copy from DigiLocker, a printed duplicate from DADS, or a correction first?[2]
Do it now
Passed in 2004 or later: get it from DigiLockerLook under Issued Documents, or pull it by searching CBSE with your roll number and year. From the 2025 exams the migration certificate exists only there unless you ask DADS for a hard copy.
Check first
Someone wants paper: ask before you payAsk the college or office in writing whether the DigiLocker copy will do. If it must be paper, order a printed document on DADS; the fee depends on the years since you passed.
Not for you
Wrong name or date of birth: don't order a duplicate yetA duplicate prints the same record. Get the correction done through the school first.
Get help
Stuck: DADS helpline or your regional officeTechnical problems on DADS: 011-24050336 or 011-24050337. Anything else, such as a pre-2004 record or a mismatch, goes to your CBSE regional office.
If the name or date of birth on the original is wrong, a duplicate repeats it. Correct it first through the school.[3]
Have ready
Name and date of birth correction does this step for you.
Sign in to DigiLocker. Accounts activated with the school's 6-digit access code get the marksheet and migration certificate pushed into Issued Documents on result day.[8]
Have ready
Accounts you made yourself don't get documents pushed. Search for CBSE in DigiLocker and enter your class, roll number and year to pull the document.[8]
Have ready
Keep the PDF and share it from DigiLocker when an institution asks. Colleges and employers can also verify CBSE records online through CBSE's academic repository.[6]
Have ready
Open dads.cbseit.in, choose Printed Document and fill in class, roll number, year of passing, your name and father's name exactly as on the document, and an email ID.[5]
Have ready
Write down or screenshot the application ID. Track Application shows the status, and Forget Application Id recovers a lost ID.[4]

This route finder runs in your browser and sends nothing anywhere. It never asks for your name, roll number or date of birth. Fees are from CBSE's fee notice of 19.08.2016 and the DADS page, checked 8 October 2026. Pay the amount the DADS portal shows.
| Years since passing (CBSE's wording) | Fee | Listed on |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 5 years from year of passing | ₹250 | Fee notice 2016 and DADS |
| More than 5 and up to 10 years | ₹500 | Fee notice 2016 and DADS |
| More than 10 and up to 20 years | ₹1,000 | Fee notice 2016 and DADS |
| More than 20 years | ₹2,000 | Fee notice 2016 only |
| Migration certificate or its duplicate copy | ₹250 | Fee notice 2016 only |
| Urgent (tatkal) fee for a duplicate, on top | ₹500 | Fee notice 2016 only; no urgent option on DADS |
CBSE counts from the year of passing. The DADS page lists the first three bands and no line for over 20 years, so check the amount the portal shows before you pay.[1]
| Your case | Route | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Passed in 2025 or later, need the migration certificate | DigiLocker (hard copy only on request through DADS) | Free |
| Passed in 2004 or later, a digital copy will do | DigiLocker, Issued Documents or pull by search | Free |
| An office wants paper | DADS, Printed Document | Fee by years since passing |
| Passed before 2004 | DADS, Printed Document (the year list starts at 1975) | Fee by years since passing |
| Wrong name or date of birth on the document | Correction first, through the school | Separate rule |
From CBSE's notification of 04.09.2024, its DigiLocker access-code manual, its note on face matching (repository from 2004) and the DADS form (years from 1975).[2]
What happens: It copies the board's record, so the wrong spelling or date of birth comes back.[3]
Fix: Order the correction through the school first, then the duplicate.
What happens: Accounts not activated with the school's access code don't get documents pushed.[8]
Fix: Pull the document by search with your roll number and year instead of waiting.
What happens: From the 2025 exams the DigiLocker copy is the one used for admission, and UGC has told colleges to accept digital copies.[2]
Fix: Ask the college in writing before you order paper.
What happens: The record lookup and the fee band both depend on it.[5]
Fix: Use the year printed on your final marksheet.
What happens: You can't track the request.[4]
Fix: Use Forget Application Id on DADS instead of applying, and paying, a second time.
| If this is you | What changes |
|---|---|
| Class 10 or Class 12 migration certificate | CBSE gave every Class 12 student a migration certificate, and Class 10 students only if they asked for one. From the 2025 exams both are digital only.[2] |
| Regular or private candidate | Regular students get the printed marksheet-cum-passing certificate through their school. Private candidates get it by post at their registered address; those under the Delhi East and Delhi West regional offices may collect it from their exam centre.[9] |
| Students abroad or without Aadhaar | CBSE's face-matching option compares a live photo with the admit-card photo and emails the certificate.[7] |
| Passed before 2004 | CBSE's note says its digital repository holds results from 2004, so older records need a printed document from DADS.[7] |
If your school gave you a 6-digit access code and you activated DigiLocker with it, CBSE pushes the marksheet and migration certificate into Issued Documents on result day. If you made the account yourself, nothing arrives on its own: search for CBSE in DigiLocker and pull the document with your class, roll number and year.[8]
On dads.cbseit.in choose Printed Document. The form asks for the class, roll number, year of passing (the list runs from 1975), your name and father's name as printed on the document, an email ID and a captcha. Keep the application ID: Track Application shows the status, and Forget Application Id recovers a lost one.
CBSE's DADS page doesn't state a processing time, payment method or postage charge, and neither does any current CBSE page we could read, so we don't give one here.[4]

Doing away with the hard copy of the Migration Certificate for both classes X & XII, notification No. CE/CBSE/2024/163685 dated 04.09.2024, Central Board of Secondary Education. Checked 8 October 2026.
Every step above cites a numbered source; the full list is at the end of the page. If the board issues a newer circular, it overrides this page.
DADS stands for Duplicate Academic Document System. It is CBSE's site at dads.cbseit.in for getting a copy of a lost Class 10 or 12 marksheet, pass certificate or migration certificate. Digital Document opens DigiLocker, where the copy is free. Printed Document is a paid application for a paper copy, and the same page lets you track it.[4]
The printed-document form lists every passing year from 1975 to 2026. Pick the year printed on your old marksheet; the fee goes up the longer ago you passed.[5]
You don't create an account. The Printed Document form asks for the class, roll number, passing year, your name and father's name as printed on the document, and an email ID, then a captcha.[5]
Yes. The DADS page has a separate CTET section with its own Printed Document form and tracking. CBSE's notification of 17 January 2020 set the fee for a duplicate CTET certificate or mark sheet at ₹500.[11]
Yes. DigiLocker says the documents it issues are at par with the originals, and CBSE's notification of 4 September 2024 says UGC has told colleges and universities to accept digital copies of Board certificates for admission.[2]
Not by default. From the 2025 exams CBSE stopped printing migration certificates for Class 10 and 12 and stopped charging the migration fee with the LOC. If an institution needs a hard copy, you can request one through DADS.[2]
A printed duplicate costs ₹250 if you passed up to 5 years ago, ₹500 for more than 5 and up to 10 years, and ₹1,000 for more than 10 and up to 20 years. CBSE's 2016 notice lists ₹2,000 for more than 20 years. The DigiLocker copy is free.[1]
On CBSE's Duplicate Academic Document System at dads.cbseit.in. Choose Printed Document and enter your class, roll number, year of passing, your name and father's name as printed, and an email ID.[5]
It is on your admit card and on any photocopy of the marksheet. If you have neither, ask your school. For an old record, ask the CBSE regional office for your area.[3]
Use Track Application on the DADS page. If you lost the application ID, use Forget Application Id on the same page instead of applying again.[4]
Probably not. CBSE says its digital repository holds results from 2004. Try a DigiLocker search anyway, then apply for a printed copy on DADS.[7]
