CBSE LOC verification slip check for parents (2026-27)
My child sits the CBSE Class 10 or Class 12 board exam in 2027. How do I check that the board has the right name, date of birth and subjects before the correction window closes?
Quick answer
LOC verification means checking your child's data verification slip. After the List of Candidates (LOC) last date (30 October 2026, with the late fee), the school generates this slip for each Class 10 and Class 12 candidate from the data it sent to CBSE. That data ends up on the admit card and the marksheet. If the student's, mother's, father's or guardian's name, the date of birth or a subject is wrong, CBSE allows a correction only from 2 to 4 November 2026. After that, the circular says the board will allow no corrections. Ask the school for the slip, compare it with the checklist below, and print the sheet to take to the school.

📅Correction window after the data verification slip
2 to 4 November 2026. After this, the circular says the board will allow no corrections.[1]
💳Exam fee (schools in India)
Rs 1,600 for five subjects, Rs 320 for each extra subject. Class 12 practicals cost Rs 160 per practical subject. Visually impaired candidates pay no exam fee.[1]
Optional in the LOC. If the school enters one, the candidate's name must match the APAAR record.[1]
The steps, in order
1
Ask the class teacher when the slip will be shared October 2026
Schools submit the LOC between 24 September and 30 October 2026 and then generate a data verification slip for each student. The circular asks schools to brief students and parents, so ask for the date now.[1]
Have ready
Class teacher's or exam in-charge's contact
Your child's Class 9 registration details
2
Check names and date of birth letter by letter Day the slip arrives
Compare the student's, mother's, father's or guardian's names and the date of birth with your records. The circular says they must match the school's Admission and Withdrawal Register.[1]
Have ready
Birth certificate
School ID card or admission record
3
Check every subject code Day the slip arrives
Use the checker on this page to pick the codes your child should have, then compare them with the slip. The same number can mean different subjects in Class 10 and Class 12.[1]
Have ready
Your child's subject list
The code table on this page
4
Check the photo, CWSN entry and APAAR ID Day the slip arrives
Schools must upload each student's photograph before the final LOC. The APAAR ID is optional, but if it is entered the name must match the APAAR record. CWSN students go through a separate portal with an earlier last date.[1]
Have ready
A recent photo, if the school asks
APAAR ID, if your child has one
Disability certificate, if CWSN applies
5
Report every error to the school in writing 2 to 4 Nov 2026
Corrections to names, date of birth and subjects found on the slip can be made only from 2 to 4 November 2026. After that, the circular says the board will allow no corrections.[1]
Have ready
A note listing each error and the correct value
A copy of the proof for each one
6
Sign the final list and keep a copy When the school asks
The circular asks schools to get the mother's, the father's and the candidate's signatures on the final list to confirm the names. Keep a photo of what you signed: this data ends up on the admit card and the marksheet.[1]
Have ready
Both parents available to sign
A phone to photograph the signed page
This checker runs in your browser and sends nothing anywhere. It follows CBSE circular CBSE/LOC/X-XII/2026-2027 dated 17.09.2026. Only your child's school can submit or correct LOC data, so take any error you find to the school.

CBSE lists these pairs in the 2026-27 LOC circular because schools mix them up. The same number can mean different subjects in Class 10 and Class 12: 002 is Hindi A in Class 10 but Hindi Elective in Class 12, and 241 is Mathematics Basic in Class 10 but Applied Mathematics in Class 12.[1]
What goes wrong
A name on the slip differs from the school register
What happens: After 4 November there is no LOC correction. A change after the result goes through the school with certified records from every school the student attended.[2]
Fix: Fix the register and the slip together, in writing, before the window closes.
Mathematics Basic (241) entered for a Standard (041) student in Class 10
What happens: The second Class 10 exam can only use the subjects in this LOC, so the error carries into May as well.[1]
Fix: Check the Mathematics code first. In Class 12, 241 means Applied Mathematics.
A subject combination outside the scheme of studies
What happens: The data shows an error on CBSE's server until a valid combination is chosen, and the circular warns such a candidate can be marked Not Eligible.[1]
Fix: Check the combination against CBSE's scheme of studies before the school submits.
Writing to CBSE directly or sending a legal notice
What happens: CBSE says these routes slow the decision down. Corrections go through the school.[2]
Fix: Put the request to the school in writing and keep a copy.

What changes
Class 10 (first board exam, February to March 2027)
Subjects in this LOC are the only ones available in the second exam. Hindi or English must be one of the two languages.[1]
Class 12
Same codes, different subjects: 002 is Hindi Elective and 241 is Applied Mathematics. Practical subjects carry a separate fee.[1]
Child with special needs (CWSN)
A separate CWSN portal runs alongside the LOC and closes before it. After that, the school can't add the student as CWSN.[1]
Joined this school in Class 10 or 12
The school can add the student only under the Direct Admission category, after approval from the CBSE regional office.[1]
Why the next few weeks matter
CBSE says it gives schools and parents about 20 chances to get a student's details right, from Class 9 registration through to the admit card. Even so, it gets a large number of correction requests as soon as results come out. A wrong spelling on the marksheet then has to go back through the school, with certified records from every school the student attended, and CBSE says it will reject incomplete requests outright.
The 2026-27 LOC adds one more step: the data verification slip and a three-day correction window from 2 to 4 November 2026. CBSE has announced no later correction step before the 2027 exams, and the rules on subjects are stricter. The circular says requests to change subjects after the LOC is submitted will not be accepted, and a subject combination that breaks the scheme of studies makes the candidate Not Eligible.[2]
What the school does and what you can do
Only the school can submit or correct the LOC. Schools file it online, logging in with their affiliation number. Before the last date, the school can still correct data it has already sent. Correcting a name or replacing one subject with another costs nothing. Adding a sixth subject means paying that subject's fee.
What you can do is check. The circular asks schools to brief students and parents about the data and the subjects, and to get the mother's, the father's and the candidate's signatures on the final list to confirm the names. Ask the class teacher when the slip will be shared, check it against a birth certificate and the school's own record, and report any mismatch in writing before 4 November.[1]
Class 10: the subjects in this LOC carry into the second exam
This LOC is for the first Class 10 board exam in February and March 2027, which every Class 10 student must take. The LOC for the second exam is filled in after the first one ends, and a student can take the second exam only in subjects filled in this LOC. If Mathematics Basic (241) is entered by mistake when your child studies Mathematics Standard (041), the error follows into the second exam too. Our second-exam checker shows which category a result leads to.[1]
If you miss the window
After 4 November, the circular says the board will make no more corrections through the LOC. Changes to demographic details after the result go through the school, which must send certified records from all the student's previous schools. CBSE has also asked that students go through their school instead of writing to the board directly, sending legal notices or going to court, because those routes slow the decision down.[2]
Tips and tricks
Check the mother's and father's names as carefully as the student's. They print on the marksheet too, and they are easy to skim past.
Hindi A (002) and Hindi B (085) are both common in Class 10. Ask which one your child's class actually studies rather than guessing from the textbook cover.
Correcting a name or replacing one subject with another before the last date costs nothing. Only adding a subject brings a fee.
Ask for the slip date now. The correction window is three days, and the school needs time to make the fix.
Photograph the slip and the signed final list. You will want them when the admit card arrives.

Questions people ask
What is LOC verification in CBSE?
It means checking the data verification slip, a new step for the 2027 exams. After the LOC's last date, the school generates a slip for each candidate. If the candidate's, mother's, father's or guardian's name, the date of birth or a subject is wrong on it, CBSE allows the correction from 2 to 4 November 2026.[1]
Where do I get the CBSE LOC slip?
From the school. The circular says schools generate the data verification slip for each candidate; it does not describe any download for parents or students. Ask the class teacher when the slips will be shared, and check yours early so the school can file any correction inside the 2 to 4 November window.[1]
What does LOC data mean?
LOC stands for List of Candidates. LOC data is what the school sends CBSE about each student sitting the board exam: the candidate's, mother's, father's and guardian's names, the date of birth and the subjects with their codes. That data ends up on the admit card and the marksheet.[1]
Is the APAAR ID compulsory for the CBSE LOC 2026-27?
No. The LOC circular says filling in the APAAR ID is optional. If the school does enter one, the candidate's name has to match the APAAR record, because the portal validates it.[1]
Can my child change a subject after the LOC is submitted?
The circular says no. CBSE will not accept requests to change subjects after the LOC is submitted or just before the exams. The only exception it describes is the 2 to 4 November 2026 window, which covers subjects found wrong on the data verification slip.[1]
Does it cost anything to correct a name before the last date?
No. If the school corrects a name, adds or removes a surname, or replaces one subject with another before the last date, no fee is due. Adding or replacing a subject in sixth place means paying that subject's fee.[1]
Which record decides the correct spelling of the name?
The school's Admission and Withdrawal Register. The circular tells schools that the spelling of the student's, mother's, father's and guardian's names, and the date of birth, must match that register. If the register itself is wrong, raise it with the school now.[1]
My child is a child with special needs. Is there a separate deadline?
Yes. CBSE runs a separate CWSN portal alongside the LOC, and its last date falls before the LOC's last date. After it closes, the school can't add any more students as CWSN, so ask the school to confirm the category is entered.[1]
