Skipping the scan
What happens: The verification and re-evaluation window opens, and the student can't apply.[1]
Fix: Apply for the scanned copy of every subject you might question in the stage 1 window.
My CBSE Class 10 or Class 12 result looks wrong. How do I get the answer book, check the adding myself, and decide between verification and re-evaluation, and what does each step cost?
CBSE's review after the result has two stages, and you can't skip the first. Stage 1: apply online for the scanned copy of your answer book, subject by subject. Stage 2, only if you got the scan: ask for verification of errors you can point to (missing pages, wrong totals, a mark not carried to the cover table, someone else's book) or re-evaluation of whole questions, with a reason for each. Marks can go up or down, and CBSE applies a drop of even one mark. In 2026 the fees were different for Class 10 and Class 12, and different again for the Class 12 supplementary exam, so use the row for your exam. The 2027 dates and fees are not out yet. CBSE announces them after the results.
This page may be out of date. It was due for a re-check on 15 April 2027. Confirm every rule with the official source before acting on it.

An answer deserved more: re-evaluation, with a reasonOnly where you can name the marking-scheme point you covered and the page it is on. Marks can go down too.
Not for you
Totals agree and the answers match the schemeKeep the scan and move on. A request without a clear reason can still lower the mark.
Download the marksheet from DigiLocker and note each subject's marks. You'll compare the scan against these numbers.[7]
Have ready
Apply online yourself, not through a cyber café. There is one application, so include every subject you might question. Scans go out in the order the requests came in, so apply early. In 2026 the fee was Rs 100 per subject for Class 12 and Rs 300 per subject for Class 10.[1]
Have ready
Both are on the CBSE website. Check the set number on your question paper first.[10]
Have ready
Supplementary sheets present, every question marked, margin steps added right, each margin mark posted right, row totals, column total, and the total against your result. The tool on this page runs checks 3 to 7.[8]
Have ready
For each answer you think deserved more, write the question number, the page number and one line on the scheme point you covered. Re-evaluation covers whole questions only.[8]
Have ready
Add every subject and question before you press Freeze, because the form locks. The application counts only once the payment goes through. Save the receipt.[4]
Have ready
Check the same login: the status reads Changes Updated, No Change or Under Process. A revised marksheet goes to DigiLocker, and if your marks change you return the old Mark Statement cum Certificate.[7]
Have ready
This tool runs in your browser and sends nothing anywhere. It never asks for a name or roll number. It applies the seven self-checks in Annexure II(A) of CBSE's Class 10 notice of 05.08.2026, the totalling clarification of 04.06.2026 and the fees in CBSE's three 2026 notices, checked 10 October 2026. CBSE's own outcome is final.
| Exam (2026) | Scanned copy | Verification | Re-evaluation | Notice |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Class 12 main (result 13 May) | Rs 100 per subject | Rs 100 per answer book | Rs 25 per question | 15.05.2026 and 17.05.2026 |
| Class 10 main and second exam | Rs 300 per subject | Rs 300 per answer book | Rs 100 per question, including all its sub-questions | 05.08.2026 |
| Class 12 supplementary | Rs 100 per subject | Rs 100 per answer book | Rs 100 per question | 27.08.2026 |
Each fee is shown with its unit as CBSE printed it. All three notices: online payment only (UPI, card or net banking), and the fee goes back to the account it came from if your marks go up. The Class 12 main fees were cut on 17.05.2026 from Rs 700, Rs 500 and Rs 100.[2]
| Exam (2026) | Result | Scanned copy | Verification and re-evaluation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Class 12 main | 13 May | 19 to 25 May | 2 to 7 June |
| Class 10 main and second exam | 15 April (main), 18 July (second) | 5 to 9 August | 16 to 19 August |
| Class 12 supplementary | Announced separately | 31 August to 1 September | 7 to 8 September |
Dates as finally notified, extensions included. The Class 12 scan deadline moved twice (the last move by the circular of 24.05.2026) and the second stage moved to 7 June (circular of 05.06.2026). Each window closed at midnight.[8]
| Check | What to look for | Example |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Every supplementary sheet is in the scan | A sheet you wrote on is not in the scan |
| 2 | Every question you answered has been marked | An answer with no mark against it |
| 3 | The step marks in the margin add up to the margin total | Steps 1, 1 and 1 make 3, but the margin shows 2 |
| 4 | Each margin total is copied correctly to the cover table | Q7 got 4 in the margin, the cover table shows 3 |
| 5 | Each row of the cover table adds up | A row should total 40 but shows 36 |
| 6 | The column total adds up | The column should be 42 but shows 40 |
| 7 | The book's total matches your result | The book says 42, the result shows 40 |
From Annexure II(A) of the Class 10 notice of 05.08.2026; the examples for checks 3 to 7 are CBSE's own. The Class 12 supplementary notice points to the same annexure. The tool above runs checks 3 to 7.[8]
What happens: The verification and re-evaluation window opens, and the student can't apply.[1]
Fix: Apply for the scanned copy of every subject you might question in the stage 1 window.
What happens: CBSE accepts one application per step, so a subject meant for later is lost.[4]
Fix: Put every subject and question in before you press Freeze.
What happens: The total comes out higher than the result, but CBSE has made no error: only the better answer of a choice pair counts.[6]
Fix: Look at the footnote on the mark sheet and leave starred marks out.
What happens: In 2026 re-evaluation was Rs 25 per question for Class 12 main but Rs 100 per question for Class 10 and for the Class 12 supplementary exam.[2]
Fix: Read the fee row for your own exam and year.
What happens: Once the Main or the Second exam book is chosen for a subject, the other can't be reviewed.[8]
Fix: Compare both scans before you choose.
What happens: CBSE says it is not responsible for errors made by a third party.[8]
Fix: Apply yourself and keep a screenshot of the summary and the payment page.
| If this is you | What changes |
|---|---|
| Class 12 main exam (2026) | Scan, then verification of issues observed and re-evaluation. Where verification found no change, CBSE said it would offer inspection of the answer book at the regional office, on a schedule to be announced.[7] |
| Class 10 main and second exam (2026) | Scans of either book or both; verification and re-evaluation on one book per subject.[8] |
| Class 12 supplementary exam (2026) | The same two stages with their own fees and shorter windows: two days per stage in 2026.[9] |
Verification is for errors you can show on the scan. CBSE's 2026 press release lists them: missing pages, missing supplementary sheets, missing maps or graphs, blurred pages, an answer book that isn't yours, and marking against a different set. A wrong total or a mark not posted to the cover table falls here too. You pay per answer book, and one request can list several issues.
Re-evaluation is a fresh look at whole questions you think deserved more under the marking scheme. You pay per question, give the question number and the page, and say why. CBSE's June 2026 guidance says each Class 12 answer book under re-evaluation was checked by two evaluators. CBSE re-evaluates the theory paper only, and the full question, never part of it.[4]
If you answered both options of an internal-choice question, CBSE counts the better answer and stars the other. The footnote on the mark sheet says starred marks are left out of the total. CBSE's own Chemistry example: Q31(a) got 3 and counts, Q31(b) got 2 and is starred, and the book adds to 43.5, which CBSE rounds to 44.
So check for stars before you count anything as an error. The clarification shows 43.5 rounded up to 44 and says nothing about other fractions, so the tool shows the unrounded total with that one example next to it.[6]
A Class 10 student who wrote a subject in both the main and the second exam can ask for both scans. Verification and re-evaluation, though, go on one answer book only, Main or Second. The notice says that once you select one, the other can't be considered.
The Class 10 scan fee is Rs 300 per subject. The notice doesn't say whether two books of the same subject cost one fee or two, so the tool shows the fee as printed and flags the gap.[8]

Apply for the scanned copy of your answer book first, in the scan window. After you receive it, apply online in the second window for verification, re-evaluation of whole questions, or both. Only students who got the scan can apply for the second stage.[8]
For the 2026 Class 12 main exam it was Rs 25 per question. For Class 10 (main and second exam, 2026) it was Rs 100 per question, including all its sub-questions. For the 2026 Class 12 supplementary exam it was Rs 100 per question. The 2027 fees will come with the 2027 notice.[2]
Yes. CBSE's notices say a decrease of even one mark is applied, and the outcome is final with no appeal.[1]
Yes. All three 2026 notices say the fee goes back to the account it was paid from if your marks go up.[8]
Verification is for errors you can show on the scan: missing pages or supplementary sheets, missing maps or graphs, blurred pages, someone else's answer book, marking against another set's scheme, or totals and postings that don't add up. Re-evaluation is a fresh look at whole questions you think deserved more under the marking scheme.[4]
Check the over-attempt rule first. If you answered both options of an internal-choice question, CBSE counts the better one and stars the other, and starred marks are left out of the total. CBSE's own example adds to 43.5 and shows 44.[6]
CBSE says a scan under the RTI Act 2005 will be given as that Act provides, but re-evaluation or grievance requests can't be made under RTI.[1]
In the same CBSE login where you applied. The revised marksheet goes to DigiLocker, and CBSE does not send individual messages.[7]
