SSC Selection Posts (Phase-XIV/2026)
How does SSC Selection Post Phase-XIV work when I apply for several post categories, which age band and level apply to me, and what happens between the computer test and joining?
Selection Posts is how the Staff Selection Commission fills a long list of small, specific central government posts that do not fit its big common exams: laboratory attendants, vehicle operators, stenographers, junior technical assistants and many more. Each post category has its own age band, qualification and vacancy count, and SSC's regional offices run them. Phase-XIV/2026 opened on 13 April 2026 and its computer test ran from 16 to 26 September 2026. This page follows that notice (File No. HQ-RHQS015/1/2026/C-4) and the SSC updates published since.
This page may be out of date. It was due for a re-check on 30 June 2027. Confirm every rule with the official source before acting on it.
Applications closed on 4 May 2026. The CBE was held 16-26 September 2026 and answer-key challenges closed 12 October 2026; the result was not on the SSC notice board as of 2 November 2026.

|---|---|
| Up to 5 | 30 per vacancy |
| More than 5 | 15 per vacancy, at least 150 |

The minimum CBE score is 30% for UR, 25% for OBC and EWS, and 20% for other categories.[1]
Most SSC exams recruit thousands of people into a few post types. Selection Posts works the other way round: hundreds of post categories, each from one department in one region, many with only a handful of vacancies. Each category has its own code, such as NR21326 for a DRDO Firefighter.
Because each category has its own qualification, experience rule and age band, you apply to each one separately. You still sit only one computer test per level.[1]
- You fill a separate application and pay the fee for each post category. Women, SC, ST, PwBD and eligible ex-servicemen are exempt from the fee.
- If you apply to posts at two or three levels, you get one admission certificate per level and sit each level's test once.
- Your marks at a level are used for every post you applied to at that level, across all SSC regions.
- Sitting the same level's test more than once cancels your candidature.

- Shortlisted candidates upload self-attested copies of their documents (qualification, experience, category, age) on the SSC portal.
- SSC e-mails them to the user department, which checks them against the notice and sends a tentative acceptance or rejection list. The regional office puts that list on its website.
- If you disagree, you write to the user department directly; its address is printed on the list. It then issues a final list.
- Where a post has a typing, data entry or computer skill test, the user department or SSC conducts it. It is qualifying unless the post details say otherwise.
- The user department then calls accepted candidates for document verification with the originals.

Tips and tricks
- Read each post's own row in Annexure-III before applying: age band, qualification, experience and skill test all differ from post to post.[1]
- Apply to more than one post at the level you will sit anyway. One test score covers all of them, and many categories have only a handful of vacancies.[1]
- Keep proof of your experience ready with dates. It must have been gained by 4 May 2026, and the department checks it after the test.[1]
