Delhi Police Constable (Executive) Examination
Who can apply for Delhi Police Constable (Executive), what are the physical standards, and how does SSC pick candidates?
The Delhi Police Constable (Executive) exam fills constable posts for men and women in the Delhi Police. SSC runs the computer-based test under an agreement with the Delhi Police, and the Delhi Police runs the physical test, document check and medical in Delhi. You need Class 12, and men also need a driving licence. The physical test only has to be passed; the final merit list comes from the computer test marks. This page follows the SSC notice for the 2025 examination, uploaded on 22 September 2025.
This page may be out of date. It was due for a re-check on 31 March 2027. Confirm every rule with the official source before acting on it.

The post is Constable (Executive) in the Delhi Police, a Group C post at pay Level 3 (Rs 21,700 to 69,100). The 2025 notice listed 7,565 tentative vacancies: 4,408 for men, 285 for ex-servicemen, 376 for ex-servicemen from commando backgrounds and 2,496 for women.
Ten per cent of the men's posts in each category go to ex-servicemen, and half of that share is kept for those from the Special Forces, the NSG or commando-type units. The Delhi Police, not SSC, decides the number of vacancies and the reservation roster.[1]
You need Class 12 (10+2) from a recognised board by the closing date. Sons and daughters of Delhi Police staff and Delhi Police MTS, and serving bandsmen, buglers, mounted constables, drivers and dispatch riders of the Delhi Police, need only Class 11. Men must also hold a valid LMV licence (motorcycle or car) on the day of the physical test; a learner licence is not accepted.
Age is counted on 1 July 2025: 18 to 25, so born between 2 July 2000 and 1 July 2007. SC and ST candidates get 5 extra years and OBC 3. Sons and daughters of Delhi Police staff can apply up to 29. Departmental candidates with three years of service can apply up to 40 (43 for OBC, 45 for SC/ST). The notice says the post is not suitable for persons with benchmark disabilities.
The medical standard asks for vision of 6/12 in both eyes without glasses, no colour blindness and no surgery to correct eyesight. No category gets a relaxation on this.[1]
The computer test has 100 questions for 100 marks in 90 minutes: General Knowledge and Current Affairs 50, Reasoning 25, Numerical Ability 15, and Computer basics such as MS Word, MS Excel and the internet 10. Each wrong answer costs 0.25 marks, and the paper is in English and Hindi only.
To reach the physical test you need at least 35 marks if you are unreserved, 30 if you are SC, ST, OBC or EWS, and 25 if you are an ex-serviceman. SSC then calls about 12 times as many candidates as there are vacancies, category by category.
The physical test is pass or fail. Men up to 30 run 1,600 metres in 6 minutes, women in 8 minutes, and both then do a long jump and a high jump. Men need a height of at least 170 cm and a chest of 81 cm with 4 cm expansion; women need at least 157 cm. Candidates who pass the physical test and document check are ranked on their computer test marks.[1]
Tips and tricks
- Check your height, chest and eyesight before you prepare. The medical gives no category any relaxation on eyesight.[1]
- Men: get a permanent LMV licence before the physical test date. A learner licence does not count.[1]
- Practise the 1,600-metre run on a timer. Up to 30, men get 6 minutes and women 8.[1]
- Spend extra time on General Knowledge and Current Affairs. It is half the paper and the first tie-breaker.[1]
